Setup • Site preparation completed around April 21 • The site preparation was excellent. • S-Pol containers delivered to site on April 22 • Construction of S-Pol from the April 23 to the May 6 • Calibration and testing of S-Pol from May 7 to May 14 • Networking at S-Pol installed around May 10 • The network links provided by the CWB have played a large role in the success of the deployment of S-Pol. • S-Pol operational on the May 15

Operations • S-Pol has operated for 28 days (15 May to 11 June) • Major system problems • S-Pol down from 05:00 to 14:48 on June 05 during the EOP because water leaked into the pedestal electronics. • Minor system problems • Replacement of the PMAC antenna controller on May 23. S-Pol was down from around 00:00 to 07:24 UTC. • Replacement of the fast alternating polarization switch on May 29. S-Pol was restored to operation after one and a half hours.

Operations (cont.) • Staffing • During 24 hour attended operations, we have at least one technical staff member on site at all times. • During non-IOP operations, we have technical staff at the radar for around 8 hours each day. • It is good to know about transitions to and from IOPs about 24 hours in advance so that staff can plan their sleep schedule accordingly.
