Liu Bang started out as a peasant but became emperor because of the Chinese belief for the Mandate of Heaven. • His reign was also influenced because the citizens of China felt loyalty, and trust to have him as their leader. The Rise of a New Dynasty
Bang started out as a beneficial leader to all because he changed from the harsh government of Qin to making his own government by lowering taxes and making punishment less severe. • By the end of his reign Emperor Wudi took the throne. • His reign on the other hand was really harsh compared to the graciousness from Emperor Bang. Wudi changed everything about Bang’s government. • He had no mercy to those in China. He took land from lords, raised taxes, put a ration on grain, and based the government on the teachings of a man named Confucius. A new emperor
Confucianism is the teachings of ethics and moral values. • Studying Confucianism could get a peasant a job in the government. The jobs were only allowed for richer people. • As a result, richer people continued to run the government. • Confucius believed that death was death, and education was key. What is Confucianism?
The people of China were divided by social class during the time of Confucianism. • There were upper class(the emperor, his court, and scholars),second class(peasants),artisans(people who make items for daily life and some luxury goods),and merchants who usually end up making a lot of money. In order to fund the dynasty and remain in control, the Han dynasty placed heavy taxes on the people. The rich did not want to pay the taxes so the poor had to take on the burden of paying very high taxes. With all of this weighing on the people and not getting paid the tax money, the Han Dynasty fell. Fall of the Han Dynasty

Since the end of Confucius’ life his logic has taught families that the father is the head of the family. • Children must respect their elders, and if this isn’t obeyed it’s considered a crime. • People think that obeying your father you’re obeying your emperor. • “Raising daughters is like raising other people’s kids.” Daily Debates
