  10. 2011-2012 Flu Vaccine Coverage Summary Good News • No disparity • Flu vaccine coverage estimates for AI/AN people were not significantly different to those for non-Hispanic whites • High coverage among healthcare personnel (HCP) (75.3%) Not So Good News • Flu vaccine coverage levels remained essentially the same compared to previous year • Patients and HCP • Coverage levels were low – only 1/3 of our patient population received a flu vaccine

Documenting Influenza Vaccines The only immunization codes that should be used to document a flu vaccine given this season are: • 111 – Flu-NASAL • 135 – FLU –HIGH • 140 – FLU-TIVpf • 141 – FLU-TIV • 144 – FLU-DERMAL • 88 – FLU,NOS – should only be used to document a flu vaccine given elsewhere when you are unsure which type was given. DO NOT USE THESE CODES • 15 – FLU-TIVhx • 16 – Flu-Whole, • 149 – FLUNASAL4, • 123 – FLU-H5N1, • 125 -127 - H1N1 flu codes

Summary • Influenza activity remains low • Flu vaccination activities should be underway • I/T/U sites should run their influenza coverage reports WEEKLY and follow up with people who have not yet been vaccinated • Area coordinators should ensure sites are aware of the correct influenza vaccine codes to use when documenting a flu vaccine.
