Introduction The mission of Women for Kansas is to unite and activate moderate, independent, and progressive women across the state for the purpose of electing a governor, a secretary of state, and legislators who value: • A fair, progressive tax system that adequately funds public services, including • Public education • The arts • Health care • A court system free from political influence • Equal access for immigrant families • Dignity and opportunity for all
Women for Kansas History • Women for Kansas is agrassroots women’s initiative for energizing and educating individuals and groups across the state • A Kansas Women’s Agenda • Realize that we have Power • Harness the energy of many to increase our power 1,000 fold • Change the course of our future in Kansas by getting out the vote
The Issues Some of the issues that have brought us together are: • Cuts in funding for: • Education • Tax inequities • Health care (including privatization of heath care) • Immigration • Thousands of Kansans whose voting rights are in limbo because of the new state voter registration law • Fairness in the court system • Free from political influence

Taking Back Kansas Convention • What is included with your registration? • A kickoff rally of more than 1,000 spirited, cheering women, and live music by the Cherokee Maidens. • A Taking Back Kansas t-shirt to wear at the rally. • Two meals and a banquet dinner. • An opportunity to use your voice and join with other women from across the state to help shape the Position Statement being formed at the convention. • Get out the vote training. • An experience you will never forget.

What Can You Do (cont.)? • Volunteer at the Convention • Volunteer opportunities and an application are posted at www.WomenForKansas.org/volunteer • Contact info@womenforkansas.org • Contact League of Women Voters about learning how to register others to vote • Encourage young women to become involved
What Can You Do (cont.)? • Reserve time to work locally after the convention • Get women registered to vote • Get women to vote early • Get to the polls (“Need a ride?”)
