Model Statewide Network Ohio College Access Network (OCAN) Founded in 1999 First statewide coordinating body for college access programs in the nation Provides leadership and support for Ohio college access organizations through hands-on technical assistance, professional development and grant opportunities Works closely with statewide partners to help increase the college going rate in the state

Identifying the College Access Needs of the State NCAN, CMF, Community Research Institute at GVSU Final Report released April 28, 2009 Key Recommendations: Use the Michigan College Access Network as a vehicle to coordinate and expand college access efforts in the state. Continue work to identify and catalog college access providers. Use current findings to identify underserved or unserved areas of need where new programs can be developed.

    14. Mission MCAN will dramatically increase the college participation and completion rate in Michigan, particularly among low-income and/or first generation-college students of all ages.

    15. Vision In order to build and sustain a vibrant economy and strong communities based on a highly-educated population, MCAN will work to ensure that everyone in Michigan has the opportunity to access and succeed in postsecondary education.

    16. Goal MCAN’s goal is to increase the proportion of Michigan residents with high-quality degrees and credentials from 34% to 60% by the year 2025.
