  2. What is advocacy? • Write down your thoughts; • What do you believe to be the purpose and/or definition of advocacy? • What are some positive beliefs you currently have about advocacy? • What are some negative beliefs you currently have about advocacy?

  3. Misconceptions about Advocacy

What are some reasons we advocate? • There are a variety of outcomes for advocating including: • Change in the institutional policy and practice • Change in public attitudes or behavior • Change in the political process or system • Increased power or influence for a less influential group • Or a combination of some or all

  17. Advocacy Planning 101 • Evaluation • How will you know if it worked? Example: Objective #- (list objective) Evaluation Questions What is your objective intending to measure? Include questions relevant to time, quantity, quality and etc.

  18. Motivation for moving forward • Now that you have a plan in place, how do you motivate your stakeholders or “your advocates” to take action?
