IALD PROFESSIONAL PORTFOLIO REVIEW This template has been prepared to assist you with the process of the professional portfolio review. The membership committee review criteria has been included to help guide you in preparation of your narrative with the information the committee deems important when evaluating your work. Please address these points in your descriptions for each project as a whole. Please carefully read the directions included in this template, including the Evaluation Criteria. This is a blind review. Do not embed your name and/or company name anywhere within this presentation. Good luck. PROFESSIONAL PORTFOLIO REVIEW
DIRECTIONS • Text must be written in English. • Use a minimum of six (6) and a maximum ten (10) images per project. • All four (4) projects submitted must be permanent lighting designs that are architectural in nature. Light art, event lighting and temporary installation lighting will not be considered by the Committee. • Two (2) of the four (4) projects must have been completed within the last 5 years. • Maximum of 700 words per project. Text should be related to the image on display, whenever possible. Please feel free to write your text in Word format (doc) for an automatic word count, then copy and paste on this PowerPoint document. • Describe the lighting design goals for each space shown in the images. • Disclose any fill light used in the photography that may impact the overall lighting design. • Describe if day lighting is part of the design and/or images and how it is incorporated in the overall project design • Include specifics on lamp and fixture selection and any other relevant information that you believe would be important for the committee to know when evaluating your work. • Describe any constraints that effected the project - physical, budgetary, functional, scheduling, etc. • Describe the control system used on the project, dimming, selective switching, etc., if applicable. • Projects will be evaluated based on the following criteria: Please make sure to address the evaluation criteria within the text related to the images on display. DIRECTIONS – EVALUATION CRITERIA COMPLEXITY OF PROJECT | degree of difficulty of the project. CONCEPT | overall success of the lighting design concept in realizing the stated design goals of the project. HARMONY | successful design integration with architecture/environment. INVENTIVENESS | originality and uniqueness of the design approach. APPROPRIATENESS| choices related to the quality of light in the space and selection of elements for illumination. BUDGET AND MAINTAINABILITY | design solution successfully executed within budget limitations and easy to maintain. SUSTAINABILITY AND ENERGY EFFICIENCY | design meets or exceeds the stated goals for energy performance and environmental responsibility. Environmental and energy solutions are clearly stated.
