Attendance/Tardy Policies p. 17-19 • “90% Rule” for Attendance • Must Post Attendance and Tardies for all periods in TX Grade book website • Official Attendance reporting is at 10 am each day • Email Changes to Ms. Derry • Tardy 4-5= OCI, 6-7 After School Detention, 8-10, Saturday School Detention • After school detentions: MWF 4:30 to 5:30 pm • Tardy Round Ups
Hall Passes p. 20 • Required of any student in the hall • Student must have ID and Pass from Hurricane Binder • Students will not be released from class to see counselor or administrator during class time, unless they are requested to be seen by counselor or admin • Do not allow students to be in your room outside of their assigned class time
Schedule and P.A. Announcements p. 21-22 • Block Schedule, 90 Minute Periods • School Day is from 8:40 to 4:15 • “A” Day - Periods 1, 3, 5, 7 • “B” Day- Periods 2, 4, 6, 8 • 1st Floor Classes– “A” Lunch • 2nd Floor Classes- “B” Lunch • Announcements-typically made during first period of the day • Must be approved before 8:15 am the day of the announcement
Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting and Nurse p. 23-27 • Must make a report within 48 Hours of suspected abuse or neglect to the proper authorities (required by state law) • Must give oral report to CPS (Child Protective Svcs, SAISD Police, or SAPD). 1-800-252-5400 • Follow up with written report on district form • In emergency situation contact administrator and nurse • Nurse is located in front of school to provide services to students with acute and chronic medical issues. Students may be given a pass to the nurse for treatment.
Acceptable Use of Multimedia/Library p. 27-30 • Multimedia use must show connection to TEKS and lesson plans • Recreational Use is not permitted • Computer use is permitted for educational purposes only • Use of email must be professional (email is not private) • Employees are responsible for monitoring student computer use when they are supervising them • Computer Labs may be signed up for in Library, Rm 202 and GO Center • Library is available for teachers and students. Classes can visit the library and may be scheduled with Ms. Thornton
Classroom Discipline and Management p. 30-31 • Utilize Policies and Procedures from the start to gain control of your classroom • Communicate clearly to students your standards and what they will be accountable for • The Book “The First Days of School” provides many suggestions for the management of the classroom environment • Utilize Positive Behavior Intervention Support Procedures (PBIS) and Response to Intervention (RTI)
Classroom Discipline and Management p. 30-31 • Discipline Matrix • Step 1: Verbal Redirection • Step 2: Parent Contact • Step 3: Teacher assigned consequence with parent contact. • Step 4: Teacher conference with administrator • Step 5: Parent contact and discipline referral to administrative team for further disciplinary action. • Step process can be escalated based on the nature of the violation of the student code of conduct. • OCI (On Campus Intervention)
