  5. Content Standards/ODE • Our district’s curriculum is guided by the Ohio Department of Education’s standards. • Currently we are studying World War II. • ODE Standards

Classroom Objectives • Students will be able to develop skills for studying historical people and events to explore reasons why they are important to us today. • Students will be able to utilize past examples in addressing present and future issues. • Students will be able to except avariety of historical topics from differing perspectives.

  8. Course Expectations • Always be prepared and on time to class. • Assignments must be completed by the date they are due. • NO EXCEPTIONS! • Weekly Current Event Quizzes • Four Major Assessments • Two Chapter Tests • Midterm/Final • Weekly Blog Entries • Active Participation during lessons • Student Project

  10. Social Studies ‘Study’ Tips!! • Focus on what you are studying. • Create a timeline to keep track of all the events discussed in class. • Create diagrams or graphic organizers. • Mnemonic Devices • Rewrite notes after a lecture

  11. Student Project • Every Student is expected to choose 1 project to complete by the end of the semester. • A list of possible project ideas will be given to each student in advance. • Students will need to sign up. • Students will be given ample time to work in class on the projects.
