  2. #10 10. What do you do? Getting to know your colleagues is key to a successful year. Knowing the roles of every adult on your staff, opens up a wealth of potential resources.

  3. #9 9. Where is my Stapler? Find the procedures for procuring supplies. Often the thing you need is no farther than the School Supply closet.

  4. #8 8. Will you be my Friend? Every teacher should have a buddy teacher. This person will watch your class when you need to use the restroom. They will cover your duty station during parent conferences. But remember, “To have Friends, you must show yourself as Friendly”

  5. #7 7. When is Spring Break? Obtain both a school calendar and a system calendar. Planning is an essential part of teaching. Holidays, Basketball games, Progress reports impact Instructional Time. Preparing your lessons accordingly will help you maximize student achievement.

  6. #6 6. How do I use a gradebook? Like it or not assessing student mastery is an integral part of your job. If you are not sure of the best method to demonstrate your measurement to your students, seek help.
