What is ACAPS • An initiative by three International NGOs to support of the IASC Needs Assessment Task Force (NATF). • Two-year Geneva based project • Main activities • Contribute towards policy development in NATF • Training of a roster of 60 members of assessment experts • Deployment to 14 operational and assessment capacity development mission • Operational learning

The ACAPS Roster • A roster of available and trained assessment experts that can be rapidly deployed for missions up to 30 days to hosting agencies within 24 hours • Two categories of personnel within the roster • Assessment Expert • Information Analyst • Stand-by partner to Needs Assessment Roster and Pool. • Governed by NARP Steering Committee • Final approval of roster members

ACAPS Roster cont. • Roster members can upon request be deployed to any hosting UN agency involved in coordinated assessments in emergencies • Sudden on-set • Preparedness • Roster members will be an integrated part of the agency to which they deploy and will be regarded as Experts on Mission, or “Type II Gratis personnel”.  • NRC remains the roster members’ contractual employer and has all human resource related responsibilities for the roster members whilst on mission

Status as of October 2010: • Selected ACAPS roster members are subject to approval by the NARP Steering Committee prior to inclusion in the roster as of October 2010 • NARP Steering Committee members participate in selection processes • Thorough selection process which includes structured interviews, ability- and personality tests and reference checks • 18 roster members selected for inclusion in the ACAPS roster • Recruitment ongoing for new roster members, , new vacancy announcement in January 2011 • Target is 25 roster members by the end of 2010
