STRATEGIES FOR READING • PREDICT: figure out what might happen next • VISUALIZE: picture the people, places and events • CONNECT: connect personally with what you are reading; think of similarities • QUESTION: ask questions about events in the story- What happened? Why? How do the people involved feel? • CLARIFY: review your understanding; summarize, identify main idea, make inferences • EVALUATE: form opinions about what you read
