Intro This power point will be about how immigrates came to Texas. There will be details, trends, and more. There will also be historical people who made Texas what it is today.
Language of Discipline Immigration-the act of entering a new country to settle permanently Migration- the act or process of moving from one region or country to another
The immigrates: Mexican Texans The 1980 census recorded the foreign born from Mexico as the largest immigrant group in the United States, and this group remains the largest today. In 2006, more than 11.5 million Mexican immigrants resided in the United States, accounting for 30.7 percent of all US immigrants and one-tenth of the entire population born in Mexico.
German Texans Around the year 1700, many Germans were fleeing their homeland to find an easier life in other European countries, the Western Hemisphere, and Australia due to extremely violent conditions. Unlike most immigrants, German immigrants mostly did not immigrate for political reasons. In fact, the country was repeatedly being attacked by armies of various nationalities.
Native Texans First Nations people in the United States are also being affected by immigration policy. Fortunately, they are speaking up about it. Between Aug. 29 and Oct. 1, Native Americans from the northern and southern borders met at the first Border Summit of the Americas. They expressed solidarity with immigrants, took a stance against the projected wall between the United States and Mexico and demanded a halt to the militarization of the border and for the United States to respect the sovereignty of Native American nations. Many people don't know that there are over 20 tribes that live in the border area who are suffering
Spanish Texans In the 16th century Spain took control of Florida, California and the south-west region of America. About 200,000 Spaniards migrated to the new world and founded some 200 settlements in the Americas. St. Augustine, Florida, founded by Pedro Merendez in 1565, was the first permanent settlement established by Europeans in what is now the United States. Other important settlement established by the Spanish in America.
Trends The immigrates are different in many ways, but are also similar in many ways too. They different by there race or religion/culture. They’re similar by the fact that they helped colonize Texas.
