Mexican Texans • These immigrants moved from Mexico to Texas. • The Mexican Texans founded San Antonio, El Paso, and the Rio Grande. • These Tejanos believed that they were being treated unfairly by Anglo Americans. • Mexican Texans continue to have a strong influence over the economy, art, culture, and language of texas.
German Texans • These immigrants migrated to Texas from Germany. • New Braunfels, and Fredericksburg were founded by German Texans. • Germans made up the largest number of settlers in Texas. • They founded many cities and influence Texan music today.
Native Texans • Native Texans are originally from Texas. • They established the Brazos reservation, Tawakonis, Wacos, and Tonkawas. • Native Texans were eventually forced out of the state.
French immigrants • French immigrants came rom France and settled in Texas. • Castroville was founded by French Texans. • Many French immigrants were mistaken for Germans. • These French immigrants influenced interior housing styles.
trends • Most of the immigrants lived with other people of their same origin and brought many things from their culture to incorporate into Texan culture. • These immigrant groups were different because they were all treated differently by the Anglo Americans and brought with them new traditions.
