June 22 - July 5, 2014 Earn 6 graduate or undergraduate credits in Social Work Earn 6 undergraduate or 3 graduate credits in Criminal Justice Students study social work and criminal justice responses to issues of substance abuse, family violence and dislocation, international immigration, & child welfare Cost is estimated to be $2850 - $3200, which includes tuition, room, many meals, & all ground transportation; airfare not included. Financial aid is available and undergrads are eligible for a grant of approximately $1000. 2 – 3 competitive scholarships (excluding airfare) will be available for graduate students. Social Work & Criminal Justice in Austria

  4. Housing in Austria All rooms are double with shared bathroom. Students are housed in modern conference center near the city and botanical garden.

NEW PROGRAM • Earn 6 graduate or undergraduate credits in Social Work • Earn 6 undergraduate or 3 graduate credits in Criminal Justice • Focus areas will include crime, community violence, domestic violence, sexual violence, policing, prisons, poverty, & child welfare • Financial aid is available and undergrads are eligible for a grant of approximately $1000. • 2 – 3 competitive scholarships (excluding airfare) will be available for graduate students. • A final cost figure will be available after February 1, 2014. The cost of the program includes tuition, ground transportation in South Africa, site visits, housing and many meals. South Africa!June 1 - June 15, 2014

January 3 – January 17, 2015 • Earn 3 credits in Social Work or Criminal Justice(graduate or undergraduate). • Students attend Spanish immersion classes in the morning, and lectures and site visits in the afternoon. • Students live with “Tico” families in a private room with laundry service. • Cost in 2014 was approximately $3500 (for undergrads) which included airfare, tuition and room & board (breakfast & dinner).   19. Wisconsin Study Abroad Grant: • provides funding for UWM undergraduate students • Maximum award is $2,000, with an average award of $500. In 2013 eligible students who applied were awarded $1300 • Veteran’s Benefits • students should consult with the veteran’s benefits advisor in the Department of Financial Aid • Title IV-E Grant • Full time students in the BSW component in the CWTP-BSW may be able to have some of their academic costs covered Funding opportunities for study abroad

Dean’s Scholarship for International Study • Dean Stan Stojkovic awarded three scholarships of $2000 apiece for graduate students studying abroad in 2013 • students must be enrolled as full time graduate students in either Social Work or Criminal Justice and have a cumulative GPA of 3.6 or higher • Nothum Scholarship for International Studies • This privately funded scholarship made two awards of $2000 apiece for graduate study abroad in 2013 • Students must be enrolled as full time grad students in SW or CJ, have a GPA of 3.5 & evidence of financial need.
