  3. Steps to Achieving Your Eligibility 8th Grade Students With the Changes to Core Requirements and GPA that the NCAA has made and will make over the next few years. It is important that you make the right class course choices to be eligible to play college sports. If your student athlete shows the ability to play sports. You need to discuss your students class choices with the High School Guidance Counselor and make yourself aware of the 10 Core Course that must be completed by the Seventh Semester of High School. Knowledge of this Process is your most Valuable Tool.

  4. Steps to Achieving Your Eligibility • Freshmen and Sophomores • Work hard to get the best grades possible • You will need to print your high school’s list of NCAA course at www.eligibilitycenter.org • Click the student-athlete college bound link to enter and then navigate to the “Resoures” tab and select “US Students” where you will find the link for the list of NCAA course • At the beginning of you Sophomore year, complete your online registration www.eligibilitycenter.org. Take the ACT and/or SAT.

  5. Juniors • Register to take the ACT, SAT or both and use the NCAA Eligibility Center Code 9999 as a score recipient. Doing this sends your official score directly to the Eligibility Center • Continue to take college Preparatory courses • Make sure your courses taken match the school’s NCAA list • Ask your guidance counselor to send an official transcript to the NCAA Eligibility Center after completing your Junior year. If you have attended more than one school, then you will need to get the official transcript mailed from your other schools. (The eligibility center does NOT ACCEPT transcripts faxed or emailed transcripts/test scores. • Before registering for classes for your senior year, check with your school counselor to determine the number of core courses that you will need to complete your senior year

Seniors • Take the SAT and ACT your senior year again, if necessary • The NCAA Center will use your best score from each section of the ACT or SAT to determine your best cumulative score • Continue to take college preparatory courses • Check this list of course with the school’s NCAA list • Graduate on time (in 8 semesters). • After graduation, ask your counselor to send your final transcript to the NCAA Eligibility Center with proof of graduation • NCAA Eligibility Center Certification Processing PO BOX 7136 Indianapolis, In 46207-7136

  7. ON-Line Registration • Go to www.eligibilitycenter.org and click the link to enter as a college bound student-athlete. Click “new account” button at the top right of the screen or the cell phone on the left side of the screen • You will need a valid e-mail address to create an account and begin the registration process. Be sure you provide an e-mail address that will be active even after you complete high school

Registration • About me: include information about yourself must be completed in this section • My Coursework: Enter your name and high school location your are currently attending. • MY Sport: In this section, you will select the sport(s) you plan to participate in at an NCAA Division 1 or 11 college or university • Fee-Your account will be activated once you have made payment or submission of a fee wavier if you have been granted a wavier. • Current Fee-70.00 dollars for registration

FeeWaviers • If you have not yet been granted a fee wavier by SAT or ACT, you are not yet eligible for a wavier for the NCAA Eligibility Center registration fee. • Fee Wavier Eligibility: In order to be eligible for a fee wavier, the student must meet one of the following guidelines • Family receives low income public assistance • Student is ward of the state • Foster family • Student is homeless • Student receives free or reduced lunch at school

NCAA DI Requirements • What if I don’t meet the requirements? • If you enroll BEFORE August 1, 2016 • If you enroll full-time at a Division I school before Aug. 1, 2016, and you have not met all the Division I academic requirements, you may not practice, compete or receive an athletics scholarship in your first year at college.

NCAA DI Requirements If you enroll AFTER August 1, 2016 You must graduate high school and meet ALL the following requirements: Complete 16 core courses: Four years of English Three years of math (Algebra 1 or higher) Two years of natural/physical science (including one year of lab science if your high school offers it) One additional year of English, math or natural/physical science Two years of social science Four additional years of English, math, natural/physical science, social science, foreign language, comparative religion or philosophy Complete 10 core courses, including seven in English, math or natural/physical science, before your seventh semester. Once you begin your seventh semester, you may not repeat or replace any of those 10 courses to improve your core-course GPA. Earn at least a 2.3 GPA in your core courses. Earn an SAT combined score or ACT sum score matching your core-course GPA on the Division I sliding scale, which balances your test score and core-course GPA. If you have a low test score, you need a higher core-course GPA to be eligible. If you have a low core-course GPA, you need a higher test score to be eligible.

NCAA DI Requirements • If you enroll AFTER August 1, 2016 • If you enroll full-time at a Division I school after Aug. 1, 2016, and you have not met all the Division I academic requirements, you may not compete in your first year at college. However, if you qualify as an academic redshirt you may practice during your first term in college and receive an athletics scholarship for the entire year. The academic redshirt qualification is only for students who enroll full-time in college after Aug. 1, 2016. • To qualify as an academic redshirt, you must graduate high school and meet ALL the following academic requirements: • Complete 16 core courses: • Four years of English • Three years of math (Algebra 1 or higher) • Two years of natural/physical science (including one year of lab science if your high school offers it) • One additional year of English, math or natural/physical science • Two years of social science • Four additional years of English, math, natural/physical science, social science, foreign language, comparative religion or philosophy • Earn at least a 2.0 GPA in your core courses. • Earn an SAT combined score or ACT sum score matching your core-course GPA on the Division I sliding scale.

To be a partial qualifier, you must graduate high school and meet ONE of the following requirements: • Earn a 2.0 GPA in 16 core courses: • Three years of English. • Two years of math (Algebra 1 or higher). • Two years of natural or physical science (including one year of lab science if your high school offers it). • Three additional years of English, math or natural or physical science • Two years of social science • Four additional years of English, math, natural or physical science, social science, foreign language, comparative religion or philosophy • Earn an SAT combined score of 820 or an ACT sum score of 68.

NAIA Requirements • All first-time NAIA participants must register at www.playnaia.org and receive an Eligibility Center determination. • If you will graduate from high school this spring and enroll in college this coming fall, the requirements are simple. High school graduation, plus two out of three of these requirements • — Achieve a minimum of 18 on the ACT or 860 on the SAT (Critical Reading and Math only.) • — Achieve a minimum overall high school GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale. • — Graduate in the top half of your high school class.
