MoLE JKOMobile •JKOMobileinitiatedwithFY11-FY12OSDAT&LCoalitionWarfare Program(CWP)sponsoredproject. •TheCWPMobileLearningEnvironment(MoLE)projectwas sponsoredtocreateamobilemedicalapplication. •Approximately24partnernationswereinvolved. •JointStaffJ7(JointKnowledgeOnline)wasthetechnologyand transitionleadfortheMoLEproject. •CWPprojectsmustresultwithtransitionofthecapabilityto DepartmentofDefense(DoD)andcoalitionpartners. •TheCWPMoLEprojecttransitionedintotwoapplications: • • TheGlobalMedAidApp-Worldwidemedicaluse,includingthecivilianmedical community TheJKOMobileApp–jointandcoalitionmilitarytraining 5

Approach •JKOMobileisahybridapplication(App)availablefordownloadfrom AppleandAndroidAppstores(searchforJKO). –CompatiblewiththeiOS5andAndroid2.3xOperatingSystems(OS). –Olderoperatingsystemsshouldwork;however,theremaybelimitationsdueto themobiledeviceasopposedtotheOS. –TheAppisfreetodownloadanduse. •JKOMobileintegrateswithJKOLearningContentManagement System(LCMS)toenableaccesstounclassifiedJKOdigitalcontent (trainingcoursesandjointinformationresources)frommobile phonesandtablets. •WithJKOMobileyoucan: – – – – Downloadandcompleteunclassifiedtrainingcoursesonmobiledevice. RecordandtracktrainingcompletionintheJKOlearningmanagementsystem. GetthelatestJKOnews. Downloadunclassifiedjobaids. UNCLASSIFIED 6

StudentAuthentication •TheJKOMobileApprequiresaPersonalIdentificationNumber (PIN)topersonalizetheApptothemobiledevice. •Studentsmustfirstcompletean“IntroductiontoJKOMobile”course ontheJKOLCMSandreceivetheirPINuponcompletionofthe course.ThePINisassociatedwiththestudentprofileintheJKO LCMS. •Thestudent’sPINissubsequentlytransferredtotheJKOMobile LearningSuite(m-LearningSuite)thatcontrolsaccessandrecords coursecompletionsassociatedtothePIN. •NoPersonalIdentifyingInformation(PII)istransferredorusedwithin eithertheJKOm-LearningSuiteortheJKOMobileapp. UNCLASSIFIED 7

TrackingandReporting •CoursecompletionsarecommunicatedfromtheJKOMobile apptotheJKOm-LearningSuiteandassociatedwiththe student’sPIN. •TheJKOm-LearningSuitethencommunicatescourse completiondatabacktotheJKOLCMS. –Thestudent’sPINandcoursecompletionsaresubsequently associatedwiththefullJKOLCMSstudentprofile. –Thestudentmayviewcoursecompletioncertificatesandrecords viatheJKOLCMS. –Coursecompletionsmaybeadministeredbytrainingstaffviathe JKOLCMS. FutureJKOMobileInitiatives •Conversionofbrowser-basedcontenttomobileformats: –JKOdigitalcontentcurrentlyprovidesover1,000Web-basedtrainingcoursesand additionalinformationresourcesdesignedfortraditionalwebbrowsers. –JKOwillprioritizeconversionofbrowser-basedcoursestomobileformatsbased upondegreeofuse/interest. –Goingforward,JKOwilldevelopbrowserandmobileversionsinparallel(as appropriate). •Newm-Learningsuitefeatures: –StudentscanswitchbackandforthbetweentakingacourseontheLCMSorvia JKOmobile. –Asecondm-LearningSuitewillbedeployedtoaccommodatesensitive unclassifiedcourses.Sensitiveunclassifiedcourseswillonlybevisibleto approvedstudentsandthosecourseswillbeencryptedonthemobiledevice. Sensitivecontentcanberemotelydeletedifthemobiledeviceislost. UNCLASSIFIED 10
