802.11 ah preamble specification for 1 MHz • STF Sequence: • Tone Index: [-12 -8 -4 4 8 12]: 5 repetitions in 1 OFDM symbol. • Values: [0.5 -1 1 -1 -1 0.5]*(1 + i) • 3 dB power boost only for MCS0-Rep2 • Low PAPR: 0.46 dB InterDigital Communications
Correlation of 2 MHz STF • STF correlation has >10 dB difference between peaks and next highest value InterDigital Communications
Correlation of Current 1 MHz STF • Proposed STF has worse correlation than 2 MHz STF: will perform poorly even with 3 dB power boost. InterDigital Communications
Conclusions • Current 1 MHz STF issues: • Poor correlation properties compared to existing structures. • Unnecessarily complex (3 dB boost, reduced shoulders to reduce PAPR). InterDigital Communications
