  2. Davy Crockett’s Family • David Crockett was born in East Tennessee on August 17, 1786. He was the fith born of nine children. His parents were John and Rebecca Crockett. In 1806 Davy Crockett married Mary Finely. They had three kids named John Wesley, William, and Margaret. After Mary Finely’s death Davy Crockett got remarried to Elizabeth Patton and had three more children named Robert, Rebecca, and Matilda.

  3. Davy Crockett’s career • In 1817 Davy Crockett worked as a justice of the peace and later served as a county commissioner . He was elected lieutenant colonel of the local military regiment in 1818. he campaigned for a seat in the Tennessee state legislature in 1821. in 1823 he was elected to the Tennessee legislature. In 1825 Davy Crockett ran for a seat in the U.S. congress but was defeated. He ran again and won in 1827 and was reelected in 1829. 1835 was the end of his congressional career.

  4. Armed Service • In 1835 Davy Crockett went to Texas looking for new land. By January 1836 he joined the Texas Volunteers and within a month he reached San Antonio, Texas. In the first week of March, he and the other defenders of the alamo died during the capture of the fort by the Mexican Troops. Davy Crockett died on March 6,1836.

Interesting Facts • Davy Crockett was a storyteller, settler, bear hunter, soldier ,and a U.S. Congressman. • When he was 8 years old he asked his father for a rifle but his father said he couldn’t afford to waste ammunition on a boy’s missed shots. • He was a great hunter and once killed 22 bears in one season
