Native • Native to Europe and south western asia • Found in turkey and spread through eastern Europe
When it arrived here • Was non intentional • Was found in 1996 • Was found on a piece of brocli in Ontario • The adults are very weak fliers so they are transported through the movement of soil
impact • The feeding of the larva damages the leafs • This leaves the leafs crumpled and swollen with brown scaring • Destruction of crops
Control/ prevention • Insecticides can be used, but they will also enter the plant tissue • The best method of control currently is to stop the spread of the species • Another method is crop rotation • Also the non use of non-cruciferous plants
