Your skin feels cold because when alcohol evaporates, it absorbs heat energy from your skin. “Dry ice” (solid carbon dioxide) does not disappear, but it sublimes into a gas. “Moth balls” (solid napthalene) do not disappear, but it sublimes into a gas.
