ACT Test • ACT *Test Date: Sat., Oct. 24th Registration deadline: Fri., Sep. 18th *Final test date for scholarship consideration at many colleges. *Test Date: Sat., Dec. 12th Registration deadline: Fri., Nov. 6th COST: ACT (No Writing) $38.00 ACT Plus Writing $54.50 *If you receive free or reduced lunch contact your counselor for fee waiver request.

  10. COLLEGE APPLICATIONS • Move your “Colleges I’m Thinking about” to “Colleges I’m applying to”. You can link to the college application page through Family Connection. • Many applications are due by Dec. 1st. • For best treatment and scholarship consideration, applications should be completed by mid-October. Please check college websites to verifydeadlines. Many colleges have Early Action or Notification for admissions and scholarship

  11. GRCC APPLICATIONS www.grcc.edu • If you have below a 2.0 and/or you scored below an 18 on any of the ACT subjects tests you must take the ACCUPLACER test. Visit www.grcc.edu/accuplacer for more info.

  12. COLLEGE VISITS • On site college representative visits – Sign up through Family Connections. • Go to the college admissions website to set up an appointment for on-campus visit.

  13. College Nights -National Christian College Fairs/ Cornerstone University Sep.21st/ 6:30-8:30pm -College Night atAquinas College - Oct. 22nd/6:30-8:00pm

NCAA/NAIA • Students who wish to participate in athletics at Division I or Division II NCAA or at a NAIA college must be certified by the NCAA or the NAIA eligibility website. • Core curriculum requirements and test scores must meet each organizations standards. Please schedule an appointment with the Guidance Office for more specific information. NCAA & NAIA Eligibility Centers are linked in Family Connections

  15. TRANSCRIPT REQUESTS • All transcript requests go through Family Connection, even if we are sending a paper application. • We are still able to send paper transcripts per your request. Allow 3-5 business days. Be sure to let us know if recommendation letters will also need to be sent. • Dual Enrollment (DE) – Be sure to request and send transcripts from your DE college.

  16. NHS COLLEGE APPLICATION PROCEDURE 1. Log into Family Connections. Click on “Colleges”, then click on “Colleges I’m Applying to” and add desired colleges to your list. You can move colleges from your “Colleges I’m Thinking About” and add new ones.

  17. NHS COLLEGE APPLICATION PROCEDURE 2. MUST request transcript and recommendation letters online through Family Connection. Counselor and teacher recommendations may require 5-7 working days to process. Students must complete the Senior Interview Sheet before a letter will be written. *Be sure to ask teacher in person before online request. 3. If ACT/SAT scores need to be sent directly to prospective colleges, go to www.act.orgor www.collegeboard.com to request submission.

  18. Common Application Procedure • Create an account on Common App website. • Complete the FERPA release form in Common App. • Return to Family Connections (“Colleges I am applying to”) tab and enter email used for Common App. • Click “Match” Note:

  19. GENERAL FINANCIAL AID AND SCHOLARSHIPS Financial Aid Meeting: January 7th, 2016/7:00pm FAFSA recommended deadline- Feb. 19th, 2016. Actual deadline- March 1st, 2016 Check prospective college websites regarding additional financial aid requirements. (CSS Profile or Institutional ) Scholarship Information in Family Connections under the “college” tab.

  20. SPRING • College commitment:May 1st, 2016 *Students must make a final decision on the institution they will be attending • A.P. Testing: May 2nd – May 13th, 2016 • CLEP Testing: Prior to fall college semester (Check with selected college if interested) • Graduation:Tue., May 31st, 2016

SENIOR INTERVIEW SHEET • Senior Interview Sheet is now a new “Task” in your Family Connection. • We MUST have a completed Senior Interview Sheet prior to writing a recommendation letter. • Teachers and counselors use as a guide for college AND scholarship recommendation letters. Be sure to give or email a copy to teachers when requesting a recommendation. • Be as complete and in depth as possible. The better we know you the better we can sell you!
