OCLC WorldShare® Interlibrary Loan • New service replaces WorldCat Resource Sharing May 19, 2014 • Included in existing OCLC Resource Sharing subscriptions • The service: • Adds efficiencies and improve workflows • Supports delivery of print and electronic materials • Promotes member innovation with platform-driven APIs • WorldShare Platform supports new features that require interoperation with other applications • No change for ILLiad users
New and improved features • Display of lender costs – speeds selection of appropriate lenders • Integrated buy-it options for staff –options to buy alongside borrow • Variable aging of requests – automatic entry of “enter my symbol twice” saves staff time • Display of item availability and shelf status based on item availability in library OPACs select lenders based on actual availability of needed item • 15-library lender string - reduces turnaround time by sending requests to more libraries • ---and more
