Children Of The Resurrection He is not here, for He has risen, as He said.
Text: Luk 20:34-38 “And Jesus answering said to them, The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage: (35) But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage: (36) Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection. (37) Now that the dead are raised, even Moses showed at the bush, when he calls the Lord the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. (38) For he is not a God of the dead, but of the living: for all live unto him.”
Introduction: As resurrection people, this is not the end, it’s the beginning. If it wasn’t for the resurrection, we wouldn’t celebrate Christmas! That's why the Christian church worships on Sunday. We are people, not of the past but of the future. We are children of the resurrection. We are intended to live as a people filled with hope and the possibility of life, even when facts would seem to indicate otherwise. We live our lives on the everyday level—working, playing, shopping, going to school, getting married, pursuing careers and vocations, raising families. But in the resurrected life found in Jesus, we do all those things for the glory and kingdom of God. We do them living out the purposes of God as people of the resurrection—Christ’s and eventually our own. We are resurrection people…

Passed from death to life Jn 5:24 "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life. B. we will be raised up with Jesus and be seated with him in the heavenly places. Eph 2:4-6 4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,
II. Tried People Jam 1:3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith works patience. 1:4 But let patience have her perfect work, that you may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. I Pet 4:12-14 Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; 13 but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ's sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy. 14 If you are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are you, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. On their part He is blasphemed, but on your part He is glorified.
III. Transformed People A. Not serve sin Rom 6:6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. B. Not live for self 2Co 5:15 And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again. C. Not conformed to the world Rom 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
IV. Trusting People 1Ti 4:10 For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe. Heb 6:12 That you be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises. Heb 11:13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.
V. Transfixed People Heb 12:1-2Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which does so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
VI. Transient People Heb 11:8-10 “By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out into a place which he was afterward going to receive for an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he went. By faith he lived in the land of promise as a stranger, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs of the same promise with him. For he looked for a city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God.” Heb 11:13-16 (13) These all died in faith,... and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. (14) For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country. ... (16) But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he has prepared for them a city.
VII. Translated People Joh 5:24 Truly, truly, I say to you, He who hears My Word and believes on Him who sent Me has everlasting life and shall not come into condemnation, but haspassed from death to life. Eph 2:6 “and has raised us up together and made us sit together in the heavenlies in Christ Jesus, 1Th 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
But you shall receive power, the Holy Spirit coming upon you. And you shall be witnesses to Me both in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and to the end of the earth. And saying these things, as they watched, He was taken up. And a cloud received Him out of their sight. Acts 1:8-9 He Is Risen...He Is Risen Indeed!
