About the Fed Challenge • Economics competition sponsored by the Federal Reserve, the central bank of the United States • Teams of five students and one alternate • 12 minute presentation on current economic conditions and a monetary policy recommendation • 10 minute Q & A session conducted by judges from the Federal Reserve Who We Are Join Us The Competition Tryouts What to Expect Euro Challenge
About the Fed Challenge • Preliminary round, followed by Semifinals/Finals • Of the 12 districts of the Federal Reserve, we are located in the 2nd district, the District of New York. Who We Are Join Us The Competition Tryouts What to Expect Euro Challenge
Tryouts • Weekly afterschool meetings every Friday, where we will teach you basic macroeconomic concepts • This means everyone has an equal chance of making the team • Two rounds of tryouts in early and mid- November • Interview format; series of basic, then challenging questions Who We Are Join Us The Competition Tryouts What to Expect Euro Challenge
What to Expect • Frequent meetings as the competition approaches • Plenty of reading, learning economics • Keep updated on economics conditions Who We Are Join Us The Competition Tryouts What to Expect Euro Challenge
What to Expect • December – review basic macroeconomics • January – meet weekly to do research, read, review previous knowledge, practice Q&A • February – begin to draft the presentation • March – finalize the presentation, meet with economists (Preliminary Round) • April – daily meetings, rehearse/update the script (Semi-finals/Finals) Who We Are Join Us The Competition Tryouts What to Expect Euro Challenge
