It exists the northern hemisphere that surrounds Alaska, Canada and part of Northern Asian and Europe. • The average summer temperature is 10 degrees Celsius. • The coniferous forest has 300 to 900 millimeters of rain each year. • The coniferous forest is probably the worlds largest land biome. • Coniferous means cone bearing or coming from the cones.

Pine Spruce Fir Larch Bearbury Bush Pine Blue Spruce Norway Pine Mistletoe Red Cedar Blue Cedar Holly Bush Prickers Scrub Pine Spruce Fir Larch Aspen Birch Bearbury Blueberry Bunchberry Reindeer Lichen Lichen Clubmoss Scotch Pine Producers •The conifers seeds, or cones are designed to fall only a few feet away from the tree in order to grow in neat rows. This ensures they they don’t have to fight over sunlight •Most of the timber in the Taiga is softwood, so most of our paper comes from the taiga. • Fires which are easily spread throughout the forest have cause some trees to adapt by growing thicker bark. This is to prevent the trees from catching on fire as easily. • The larch tree is resistant to fire.

(Winter it turns to a more white color etc.) • The eastern milk snake got it’s name from the belief it actually milked cows. • Most great horned owls are brown or white to blend into the trees.

  5. Concerns and Endangered Species • Pesticides that have been sprayed on some plants have carried through the food chain and have been hurting different types of species of plants and animals. • Clearcut logging is one of the biggest threats since it speeds up the process of soil erosion, destroys animals homes and biodiversity is lost. • Ski slopes, landfills, housing, and new roads are just a few examples of loosing thousands acres of the forest each year. • Hunting and fishing out of season can endanger types of species that only breed during certain types of seasons. • The lynx, wood bison Siberian Crane, Amur • Santa Cruz Cypres, Florida Torreya, Wawae'iole, Diellia Falcata, Aleutian Shield Fern

  6. Natural Resources • Types of nuts and berries: cedar nuts and various berries, grapes, blueberry,  cranberry, mushrooms, fern and medicinal plants, including the famous ginseng. • Coal deposits. • Tin deposits. • Since different types of trees grow here, the wood is used for cabinets, paper, flooring etc.
