  25. Key Features RIP SDK • The main technology in EagleRIP is RIP core. Founder has also developed a RIP core SDK, including PS RIP library, PDF RIP library, API document and sample code, to provide to OEM partners. • This SDK can run on Windows, Linux, UNIX and Mac.

  26. Installation and Uninstallation

  27. Installation • Recommended configuration • CPU: Intel Pentium 4 1.8G or above • RAM: 512MB or above • HDD: ≥High Speed 40GBm, SCSI HDD • Monitor: 1024×768, true color • NIC: 10/100 Ethernet interface card • OS: Windows 2000 Server or Windows XP Professional

  28. Installation • Step by step: • Plug the EagleRIP dongle to USB port. • Startup the computer and have the operating system ready for installation. • Insert EagleRIP installation disk into CD-ROM drive, double click “setup.exe” under the installation folder in the disk. • Install the program according to the wizard. • If you first install the EagleRIP, please plug the dongle after the installation is finished.

  29. Uninstallation • Make sure that the EagleRIP is not running before uninstalling it . • Click Start and browse to the Uninstall in Founder EagleRIP V8 program group. • Or remove the EagleRIP system from the Control Panel.

  30. Main User Interface

  31. Main User Interface • EagleRIP main windows include Menu Bar, Tool Bar, Queue of Waiting to RIP, Queue of Waiting to Print, Queue of Printed, Information Window, and Status Bar. • Below the Setting item of Menu Bar there are Template Manager, Device Manager, Input Manager, and Tool Box. • Selecting different option would show different menu bar and tool bar.

  32. Main User Interface

  33. Main User Interface • Template Manager: Add/Modify/Delete the template. Template is a set of parameters for outputting jobs. These parameters include screening, linearization, and RIP parameters. • Device Manager: Add/Delete the device. • Input Manager: Add/Delete/Enable the input which supports Hot folder, Pc network printing, Mac network printing. • Tool Box: Creating PPD; Add/Remove options; Calibration manager.

  34. Operation

  35. An example of how to use EagleRIP • Create the Parameter Template according to your actual job requirements. • Select the file that you want to output. • Select a parameter template, you may modify the parameters at this time. • Preview the page bitmap and check the page layout • Print the page bitmap to the output device (tiff or other device)

  36. Setting the parameter template • Setup RIP Setup\Screen

  37. Setting the parameter template • Override frequency in job • Override angles in job • Override dot shape in job • Checking it means the screen setting defined in the parameter template is used; Otherwise the screen setting specified in the input job file can take effect. • Enable spot color • When checking it, all spot colors of composite job and pre-separated job can be printed respectively. Spot color setup button will appear.

  38. When un-checking it, all spot colors of composite job would be converted to CMYK mode and printed. But all spot colors of pre-separated job would be printed separately. Spot Color Setup EagleRIP enables the user to add, delete and modify the spot color. The user can define the angle for spot color. Select Calibration Curve: It is used to select and preview selected calibration curve. Pixel Bits: Halftone: Generate 1 bit black and white bitmaps. Contone: Generate 8 bits image maybe gray or true color image (according to whether you check Composite in the Device Setup\Advanced\Output Property). Setting the parameter template

  39. Setting the parameter template • Precision Screening If selected, you will get the exact screen angle and screen frequency. This can avoid moiré pattern in color printing. It is recommended that you should choose this option when outputting color plates. If you output a black and white plate you don’t need to select it. • Halftone Levels This is used to set the screen levels which is between 256~65536. The bigger the screen levels, the smoother gradation can be produced.

  40. Setting the parameter template • Setup RIP Setup\RIP:

  41. Setting the parameter template • Override OverPrint In Job:If checking it, EagleRIP will use the setting in “Over Print Mode” option instead of the setting in layout application. If not checking it, EagleRIP will process overprint parameters according to the definition in input job files.

  42. Setting the parameter template • Overprint modeThere are 3 options for selecting whether overprint or not: 1. NoOverPrint: Not overprint. This means that no any plates are overprinted. 2. BlackOnly: Black plate is not overprinted. This means that only the text and images on the black plate are overprinted. The text and images on other plates are not overprinted. 3. OverPrint: This means that all plates are overprinted. The default value is BlackOnly. • Ignore blank separation: If a page has no data, the page will be ignored. This saves media.

  43. Setting the parameter template • Font Substitution: If checking it, EagleRIP will substitute the absent font with the default system font and output the file.If un-checking it, EagleRIP will report an error message when there is no corresponding font as specified in the job, and adds the absent font into the absent font mapping list. • File Search Path: You can specify all paths for the images referenced in the job. For example you place a DCS file into the layout application and print the document with composite, then you need to specify the path located the high resolution image of the DCS file at File Search Path.

  44. Setting the parameter template • Auto Rotate: To save media, a page may be rotated 90° automatically. • Fit to Page: EagleRIP will automatically scale the page contents on the media. • Image Quality: • When Proof is selected, the image quality may compromise to the processing speed, meaning it may result in relatively poor image quality but the speed is much faster. • When Fine is selected, the image quality is much better but the processing speed is slower.

  45. Setting the parameter template Device Calibration:If checking it, EagleRIP will allow the device calibration. If the image in the layout application is RGB, but you set the Color Mode to “CMYK” in EagleRIP, then EagleRIP will use the default parameters to convert the RGB to CMYK. Vice versa, the default state of this item is selected. Support Level 1 Spot Color:If checking it, EagleRIP can support the spot color in the layout application much better.

  46. Setting the parameter template Stroke Adjust:If checking it, the position and thickness of the table in the input job file will be very smooth when the file is output at low resolution. Override Stoke in Job:If checking it, system will use the default setting in EagleRIP; otherwise, system will use the parameter of stroke setting in the layout application.

  47. Setting the parameter template • Idiom substitution: PostScript 3 can describe smooth shading using a new smooth shading dictionary and operators. EagleRIP can replace the old smooth shading description in PS with the new description. • PDF Option: • Page Bounding Box: Include MediaBox, BleedBox, TrimBox, ArtBox, CropBox, you can choose one of them as the page size for the PDF according to your requirements. • PDF Password: EagleRIP supports the standard PDF encryption methods, User can input the password of the PDF file.

  48. Setting the parameter template • Page Assembly: • Chunky: The file is output in segment. For example a segment of Cyan is output first, then a segment of Magenta, followed by Yellow and Black, the segment will be output in turn of separation until the output job is completed. • Planar: The file is output in separation, one separation is output first then another separation.

  49. Setting the parameter template • Setup RIP Setup\Mark:

  50. Setting the parameter template • Standard MarkEagleRIP can add marks, file name, current time, comment etc on the page. • User Mark: Enables the user to insert the EPS file generated by the layout application into the specified position on the page. • Setup RIP Setup\Misc: • Enable Thumbnail Preview • If checking it, a thumbnail preview will be generated in the post-rip bitmap page.
