  2. Raising the Participation Age • So that you have the opportunity to build • the skills and qualifications you will need • for your working life, the government has • raised the age of participation. • This means….

  3. Who does Raising the ParticipationAge affect? • …. if you are currently in Year 11 or below, you will be expected to continue in education, training or work with training until your 18th birthday. • This is what most young people already do.

  4. Where can I learn or train? • But …. • this does not necessarily mean you have to stay on at school after Year 11. You have a choice.

  5. Where can I learn or train? • You could: • stay on in full time education, such as school, college or training provider • do an Apprenticeship • work or volunteer and then study part-time

Why is the Government making this change? • Because most young people already continue their learning after Year 11. • It gives you the best chance to gain the skills and qualifications you’ll need to be successful • It will significantly increase your prospects for future employment and the amount you are likely to earn.
