Power Library Facts • Power Library is a collection of informational databases. • Power Library is funded by the State of Pa for public schools and libraries • Access is available on any school computer. • Remote access (home) must be done through the JV Brown library with your library card information.

  5. NoveList K-8 • NoveList K-8 provides a listing of popular fiction titles for children in Kindergarten through eighth grade. • Database includes picture books to chapter books searchable by: Title, author, plot, genre or books of similar interests.

  6. SIRS Discover • The SIRS database is full text articles that have been selected for: • educational content • significance • reading level. • Articles are selected from over 1,200 magazines, newspapers and government documents

  7. Kid Search • This database allows young children to: • search by category • icon driven • search result listings with icons give students a quick check for related photos, readability levels. • students can find relevant information at their own reading levels based on lexile reading levels.

  8. Searchasurus • Searchasuarus is an exciting search tool for young children. • Uses animation and dinosaurs to provide fun and excitement to student searching possibilities. • Offers results based on readability levels using the Lexile scale.

  9. Facts for Learning Facts for Learning database encourages students to ask questions and utilize reference materials to help supply the answers. Content is derived from: • Weekly Reader • World Almanac • Gareth Stevens reference books • Funk and Wagnalls • Oxford Children’s Encyclopedia

Access PA • Pennsylvania Power Library is provided as a service of the Pennsylvania public libraries and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. • Access Pennsylvania database is a union catalog of participating public, school, academic and special libraries . This collection of over 6 million records allows for interlibrary resource sharing. • This ever growing resource allows Pennsylvania’s access to resources from any where in the state. • These materials are provided through an interlibrary loan system originating at your local library. • Check with your local librarian to access these resources.
