  3. Carl Lewis • Born: July 1, 1961 • 10 Olympic medals, 9 gold • United Nations Goodwill ambassador. • Career: 1979-1996 • He became an actor

  4. Dick Fosbury • Born: March 6, 1947 • Very influential athlete • Invented a unique back-first tecnique, adopted by almost all the high jumpers today.

  5. Larisa Latynina • Born: December 27, 1934 • She first practiced ballet, turned to gymnastics • Between 1956-1964: won 18 Olympic medals

  6. Emil Zatopek • Born: September 19, 1922 • one of the greatest runners of the 20th century • the only person who won the 5,000 metres, 10,000 metres, and marathon in the same Olympiad.

  7. Alexander Dityatin • Born: August 7, 1957 • The first athlete in Olympic history to win eight medals in one Olympic games. • the first male gymnast to be awarded a perfect score of ten in an Olympic competition.
