Streamlining VerificationMTAC Workgroup 93 • Mission Statement: • Collectively determine how the USPS and the Industry can leverage existing, or guide future, technological solutions into the mailing life cycle that can enhance the verification and induction process. • Workgroup Lifecycle – May 2005 through Quarter I, 2006 • Three Task Teams (Subgroups): • Vision Team • Barcode Team • Concept Design & Test

  4. Design & Concept Testing • Design the concept • Identify implementation needs and constraints • Test an automated induction scheduling and drop ship entry process • Analyze test results identify gaps and needs for future implementation

Pilot Status • Accomplishments • Establish data exchange (Mailers, Suppliers and USPS) • Implemented EPCD (container based entry point clearance document e8125) • Process and report Container Detail Induction events • Implemented Reports • Appointment, Job, and Container • Lessons Learned • Barcode readability issues • Shrink wrap, placard obscured or damaged • Motorola Hand-held Device and Networking Issues • Data usage standards (Drop Ship Products and Mail.Dat)

Pilot Test Next Steps • Phase II – Jan to Jul • Expand sites (based on scan deployment) • Expand participants (5 to 8 mailers) • Validate entry point discounts against Postage Statements • Evaluate pallet conflict/resolution processes • Phase III Jul to Sept • Provide eDropShip status information via web services • Implement pilot results enhancements • Continue data analysis
