  2. Standards for Mathematical Practice Matching Activity Outcome The participant will describe the behaviors of a student who is proficient in the use of the Standards for Mathematical Practice

  3. At the end of your party, there were two boxes of pizza with some pieces left over. Box A had two slices of a medium cheese pizza left over that had been cut into eight equal pieces. Box B had two slices of a medium cheese pizza left over that was cut in six equal pieces. • Which box do you want to take home and why? Share your thinking with a table mate.

  4. Standards for Mathematical Practice • 8 Corners The participant will identify the Standards for Mathematics Practice that would be employed while completing a selected rich open-ended mathematics task. Identify standards that you used or observed as you solved this problem.

  5. Summary • Share • Why did you make your selection? • On what practice did you heavily rely?

  6. Standards for Mathematical Practice are not isolated skills or activities; instead they are the appropriate observable actions that students display.

  7. Novelty and Fun in Mathematics

  8. All Standards for Mathematical Practice will not be demonstrated with every math exercise given, but multiple standards should be evident in every mathematics lesson.
