The Pharaoh • The first pharaoh of the Old Kingdom was King Menes. Some other pharaohs were Pepi I and Pepi II.
New Horizons • Most Egyptians never ventured far from there home or left the Nile. The remaining few were seen and sometimes ventured to Nubia.
Concept of Writing Arrives • The Concept of drawing symbols came from Mesopotamia where the Sumerians lived. Their written language was known as Cuneiform. The Egyptians experimented with written languages and Hieroglyphs were formed.
The Copper Age • Asians living down in Sinai traded with cities on the Mediterranean coast. Toward the end of the Old Kingdom Pepi I drove the local tribesman out and claimed Sinai for Egypt
Pyramids • By 2600 B.C the Egyptians had mastered several different skills. With these different skills they used to engineer gigantic pyramids that have lasted thousands of years.
Decline and End of the Old Kingdom • The decline of the Old Kingdom began during the sixth dynasty this was caused from numerous reasons. The last pharaoh in the Old Kingdom was Pepi II. The Old Kingdom declined because Egypt was being cheated out of taxes and was having low floods. :
