  16. Healthy eating activities • The kids loved the pizza and the soup when I made it at home • People have learned and tasted things they have never tasted before – because they are on a low budget • I’ve lost 8 lbs since coming to the class – thanks, couldn’t do it without the support

  17. Physical activities • It’s great having a keep fit group in our area – it saves on buses and it’s a really great way to meet new people • Feel better in myself and want to do more physical things • Found the walk enjoyable on many levels – meeting new people from different backgrounds and age groups and also keeping fit

  18. Health Checks and Talks • I feel I can open up to you, not like the GP or other nurses. I have told you about ****. I have not told anyone that before • All information was relevant – learned a lot about blood pressure and measurements of the body • This has been really helpful – I now understand more about REM sleep and why my baby keeps waking up

  19. Mental Wellbeing • I feel it’s helping me identify what is causing me stress…I get a chance to relax and have a laugh and learn stress management techniques • I find a big change in myself and I’m actually starting to like myself, plus I am feeling more confident • Gave my daughters a hand massage, they said it was great. It’s the most peace and quiet I’ve had for ages, they went to bed straight away

  20. Community Capacity Building • Getting involved with the project turned my life around. I used to be fat and unfit now I’m healthy, working and want to learn more. • Being a member of this group opened so many doors for me • Made me more confident and able to respect myself. I have grown in strength and, in turn, this helps my son

  21. Recommendations • Local activities and services • Low cost and non-threatening • Social interaction • Ongoing support • Targeted approach • Link with strategic developments
