Class Guidelines • Respect the learning of others • Bring your materials • Own your learning • Work diligently • No food or drink • Ask permission to get out of your seat
Class Discipline • According to our school wide PBS program, the following consequences will be given for those students who fail to meet the school expectations 1) Minor first time infractions will result in a verbal warning and one on one conference to discuss behavior and consequences if behavior is repeated. 2) Second infraction will result in conference and call home. 3) Third infraction will result in call home, conference and alternative assignment to be completed at home and signed by parent. 4) Any extreme misbehavior, as determined by the teacher, will result in an immediate call home and referral to administration.
Daily Materials • Binder with 3 dividers • Bellwork • Vocabulary • Reading • Agenda • Blue or black pen • Different colored pen (ex. Red) • highlighters • Pencil • My pencil bucket – fair warning: pencils are picked up from anywhere!! • Index cards
Class Procedures • Class will begin with a short reading assignment to be completed upon arrival. You are expected to be in your seat and working by the time the tardy bell rings. You are also expected to have your agenda filled out with the homework assignment for the day. • We will have Sustained Silent Reading throughout each week. You are expected to have your selected reading with you everyday. • We will do Achieve 3000 throughout the week for a grade. It will be your responsibility to complete one article and activity outside of class every other week. If you do complete the one outside of class, your “second try score” will be averaged for both.

Leaving Class • You will be given 2 hall passes for each 9 weeks. In order to leave class for any reason, you will need to give me your hall pass, leave your agenda by the signout, sign out, and take the class hall pass. • Upon returning to class, you are to fill out the sign out log with the time you returned to class.
Makeup Work • You are responsible for your make up work when you are absent. You are given the same number of days to make up your work as you were absent (for example, if you are absent for 3 days, you have 3 days to turn in all your makeup work.) A binder will be kept in the back of the classroom with the agenda for each day and an explanation of what you missed. The binder will also have any worksheets you missed. You will need to get any notes from a classmate. If you miss an Achieve day, you need to make up the article. Check the binder immediately when you return from your absence- if you have any questions ask me.
Grading Scale A = 93-100 B = 84-92 C = 75-83 D = 66-75 F = 65 and below
Bonus Opportunities • Hall Passes: You will be given 2 hall passes for each 9 weeks. They are worth 10 bonus points each, if you have not used them. • Other bonus opportunities may come up throughout the 9 weeks.
Prize Box I will award tickets for various things (answering questions, etc). When you receive a ticket, write your name VERY CLEARLY on the back of the ticket. At the beginning of every other week, I will hold a drawing. The student whose name is drawn will get to pick an item from the prize box! You’re welcome.
