Must have color to qualify for 100% • Daily Oral Language: • Copy your word onto your index card and look up definition. • Read DOL and find grammatical errors. • DOL will account for 45% class work grade. • Index cards will be corrected every Friday to be graded. • Weekly test on spelling and defining each DOL word.

If you choose to take your notebook, then you are responsible to bring it back every day or get a zero. • When coming into class, immediately sit at your assigned seat and complete your vocab card and dol. • When finished you may work on your cards or read until I am ready. • Raise your hand to speak, go to the restroom, or as me a question. • Do not get out of your seat unless you have been given permission. • Respect each other. You will be placed on a step for making fun of another student.

Literary Devices • Foreshadowing: Clues that hint at future events. • Flashback: Interrupting the sequence of a story with the memory of a passed event. • Irony: The statements true meaning is the opposite of what it says. Sometimes sarcasm can be ironic and can be funny, but in other times it isn’t. Ex: A dog saves the life of a man who hates dogs.
