  1. “Come Out From Among Them” God's Call to Restoration from sermon by “Buddy Payne” FC Lectures, 2011 There is no book which captures the destruction of Jerusalem, it's temple, and the captivity to follow like Lamentations. It reminds us of what they suffered, and it is as if the city of Jerusalem is speaking. Jeremiah describes the terrible time of captivity as Israel and Judah, the rebellious and stubborn people of God, have been carried off in one wave after another by Assyrians and Babylonians. The people of God observed horrors they never dreamed of seeing. They found the anger of our Lord. It is expressed so vividly in the prophets such as Jeremiah, Lamentations, Ezekiel and Daniel.. They had witness the Holy City of Jerusalem destroyed along with the temple. They were exposed to the unclean, the pagan, the defiled. They were carried off and settled in places and cultures so foreign to them that the pious Jew could never adjust.
