Enthusiasm – In God • Enthusiasm:1. Great excitement for or interest in a subject or cause. 2. A source or cause of great excitement or interest. 3. Archaic a. Ecstasy arising from supposed possession by a god. b. Religious fanaticism. (American Heritage Dictionary) • Enthusiasm comes from 2 Greek words meaning “In” and “God”-- En Qeos If we are in God and He in us, we are literally enthused! (1 John 4:15)
Enthusiasm – In God The scriptures teach us to be enthusiastic: • Ecclesiastes 9:10, “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might” • Mark 12:30, “and you shall love the lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.” • Romans 12:11, “not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord” • Colossians 3:23, “And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men” • Philippians 4:4, “Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!”
Enthusiasm – In God Jesus Created Enthusiasm: • At His birth (Luke 2:14-16). • At His entry into Jerusalem (Luke 19:37-38) • People got so excited and enthusiastic about Jesus they couldn’t stop praising Him and telling others about Him. • A man who had been demon-possessed (Mark 5:20) • The woman at the well (John 4:28) • The deaf/mute man (Mark 7:36)
Enthusiasm – In God We have every reason to be enthusiastic about Christ and His cause. • He has saved us! • He has saved others! (2 Cor. 9:13-15) Joy and Positive Thoughts are the Order of life for a Christian! (Philippians 4:4, 8; 1 Thessalonians 5:16)
Enthusiasm – In God Positive EXPECTATIONS create ENTHUSIASM! • Expect God to use YOU. (2 Timothy 2:21) • Expect victory (Romans 8:37) • Expect God to hear & answer your prayers (1 John 3:22; 5:14-15) Expectation is BELEIVING IN GOD!(Matthew 17:20; Mark 9:23)
Enthusiasm – In God Can you say with the Psalmist,“I was glad when they said to me, ‘Let us go into the house of the LORD’”? (Psalm 122:1)
