Early life • Born on August 17, 1786 in East Tennessee • Had a pretty rough childhood • Ran away from home at age thirteen • His family welcomed him back home two years later
Marriage • Davy married Mary Finley right before he turned twenty • They had three children together • She passed away and he remarried in 1815 • Elizabeth Patton and Davy had three children together
Political Career • He moved to Lawrence County, Tennessee in 1917 and worked as a justice of the peace, and then as a county commissioner. • In 1818, he was elected as lieutenant colonel of the local military regiment. • Then in 1823, he was elected to the Tennessee legislature.
Political Career • He ran for a seat in the U.S. Congress in 1825 and was defeated. • He ran again two years later and won. • He had several issues with the President Andrew Jackson and did not mind speaking up about them. • He served off and on until he was defeated in 1835. He never ran for re-election because he died shortly after.
The alamo • In 1936, he joined the fight against the Mexican army. • He died soon after on March 6, 1836 after the Mexican army laid siege on the fort. • He died a hero and to this day is remembered as such.
