  1. DESDs for 2011 Karsten Köneke CERN Paul Jackson SLAC

  2. General Problems and a Proposal • Problems: • There is a large uncertainty in many of the size/rate predictions due to: • The different trigger bias this year • Completely new triggers • Different pileup conditions • Some physics analysis motivated filters seem to have a larger rate than per-se allowed • Hidden valley signatures • High-pT jets (jet substructure, merged jets, boosted Higgs,…), i.e., > 150 GeV • Proposal: • Put all proposed selections (and per-event reductions) in now • Take datauntil end of March (up to technical stop) • Revisit everything in~4weeks • Make adjustments, if needed • Reproduce the DESDs from the ~6 weekrolling buffer of ESDs • Throw the old DESDsaway (?)

  3. Reminders • Keep in mind the changed trigger bias w.r.t. the 2010 data • To compare numbers transparently, we asked everybody to use the same input events: • Run 167607, luminosity block 86 • Instantaneous luminosity: 2*1032 cm-2 s-1, <mu> ≈ 3.7 • For the DESD contact people, please fill in one table like this • https://twiki.cern.ch/twiki/bin/view/AtlasProtected/PerformanceDPD#Event_selection_criteria_AN1 • for each of your DESDs such that we all have a good overview page to go to. • To all developers: If not already done, put your changes into SVN ASAP!!!
