  4. Environment : Phase 1 • HP DL380 G6 • HP/LefthandiSCSI storage • 72GB RAM Dev/96GB RAM Prod • 130 Servers, 72% virtualized • Hyper-V r2 (core) is the platform

  5. Lessons Learned • Maintain cross training. • Monitor at a minimum CPU, Memory, Storage Capacity and Performance • Understanding workloads not just monitoring them is critical. • Understand vendor metrics.

  6. Environment : Phase 2 • HP DL380 G7 • EMC NS-480 storage • 72GB RAM Dev/96GB RAM Prod • 130 Servers, 80+% virtualized • Hyper-V r2 (core) is the platform • MSSQL 2008 virtualized • Citrix (XenApp) virtualized in June

  7. Lessons Learned/Scope update • Manage both customer and management expectations. • Maintain overhead for growth. • We are working in partnership with the Department of Agriculture to share this environment. • Currently housing AGR dev environment - 30% virtualization.
