The Excretory System’s Organs: • Kidneys • Ureters • Bladder • Urethra • Skin • Lungs
The Nephron • The capillaries in the Bowman’s capsule run blood through them to go get filtered in the kidney. • There are millions of these Nephron cells in the Kidney • Capillaries are the body’s smallest blood cells, while arteries control the distribution of blood to the tissues, and veins return blood to the heart.
The Circulatory System’s Organs • Heart • Blood Vessels • Blood
How they work together: • The circulatory system moves the blood around the body. Some of this blood passes through the kidneys, liver, lungs, and skin. • The circulatory system provides the excretory system with the blood to be cleaned. • The Nephron regulates the concentration of water and soluble substances by filtering the blood, reabsorbing what is needed and excreting the rest as urine. By doing this it eliminates waste from the body and blood.
Hypertension • High Blood Pressure • Blood pressure is a measurement of the force against the walls of your arteries as your heart pumps blood through your body • Only symptoms are headaches, light headedness, fainting, buzzing in ears, and vertigo • Normal Blood Pressure: lower than 120/80 mmHg
Some Conditions that affect Hypertension: • How much water and salt you have in your body (Excretory System) • The condition of your kidneys (Excretory System), nervous system, or blood vessels (Circulatory System) • The levels of different body hormones
The Excretory and Circulatory System and Hypertension: • High blood pressure can hurt the kidney’s and cause kidney disease • High blood pressure makes the heart work harder and, over time, can damage blood vessels throughout the body. • If the blood vessels go through the capillaries in the Kidneys are damaged and the nephrons are gradually destroyed, then the Kidneys will stop removing wastes and extra fluid from the body
