Research Supporting Reading and Behavior Support • Schoolwide Positive Behavior Support leads to increased academic engaged time and enhanced academic outcomes (K. Algozzine & Algozzine, 2007; Horner et al., 2009; Lassen, Steele, & Sailor, 2006). • High quality academic instruction reduces problem behavior (Filter & Horner, 2009; Preciado, Horner, Scott, & Baker, 2009) • Academic deficits remediated in kindergarten reduce risk of developing chronic problem behavior (McIntosh, Sadler, & Brown, 2010).
What does MiBLSi do? • We provide: • Training for school leadership teams and principals to implement school wide reading and behavior support • Training for general and special education teachers on research based interventions • Coaching and coaching training to support school and district implementation • Systems to support data based decision making • State wide professional learning communities and technical assistance
