Abstract • Mild cognitive impairment (MCI) is diagnosed : • subjective complaints • screening measures • clinical judgment • a single memory score. • This method is highly susceptible to false-positive diagnostic errors. Aims : • To examine whether the criteria also lead to "false-negative" errors by diagnostically reclassifying 520 participants using novel actuarial neuropsychological criteria. • Results revealed a false-negative error rate of 7.1%. • The impact of "missed" cases of MCI has direct relevance to clinical practice, research studies, and clinical trials of prodromal Alzheimer's disease.

Subtypes based on neuropsychological performance predict incident dementia: Findings from the Rush Memory and Aging Project • Journal Name : Journal of Alzheimer's disease • Journal Impact Factor : 3.920 • Research Group :Albert Einstein College of Medicine • Principal Author : Andrea R. Aims : • To identify the association of natural subgroups based on neuropsychological performance in the MAP cohort with incident dementia and compare them with the associations identified in the EAS (Einstein Aging Study). • MAP : the Rush Memory and Aging Project. Methods : • MAP is a community-dwelling cohort of older adults living in the northeastern Illinois, Chicago. • Applied Latent class models to baseline scores of 10 neuropsychological measures across 1,662 dementia-free MAP participants. • Compared results to prior findings from the EAS.
Results : • LCA resulted in a 5-class model: • Mixed-Domain Impairment (n = 71, 4.3%), • Memory-specific-Impairment (n = 274, 16.5%), • Average (n = 767, 46.1%), • Frontal Impairment (n = 222, 13.4%), • a class of Superior Cognition (n = 328, 19.7%).

Statistically-Derived Subtypes and Associations with Cerebrospinal Fluid and Genetic Biomarkers in Mild Cognitive Impairment: A Latent Profile Analysis • Journal Name : Journal of the International Neuropsychological Society • Journal Impact Factor : 2.777 • Research Group :Veterans Affairs San Diego Healthcare System • Principal Author : Joel S. Eppig, Total Citation 231, h- index 8, Emily Edmons, Total citations 472 , h-index 11 Laura Campbell, Total citations 3286 , h-index 23 Mark Sanderson, Total citations 3365 , h-index 30 Lisa Delano-Wood, Total citations 2001 , h-index 27
Aims: • To examine whether unique neuropsychological MCI profiles could be identified using latent profile analysis (LPA) • Then, to investigate cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) biomarkers, genotype, and longitudinal clinical outcomes between the empirically-derived classes. Methods : • 806 participants received a comprehensive neuropsychological battery assessing visuoconstructional ability, language, attention/executive function, and episodic memory. • To adjust Test scores for demographic characteristics using standardized regression coefficients based on “robust” normal control performance (n=260).
Methods: • used calculated z-scores in the LPA. • At the end, CSF-derived biomarkers, genotype, and longitudinal clinical outcome were evaluated between the LPA-derived MCI classes. Results: • Final Class Counts and Proportions for Most Likely Class Membership of 3-Class LPA.
