  3. What did the others pick up? • The Pointed Arch •  This style of building arches has been in style with the Islamic people since the 7th century • The airy, floaty that is a signature to Gothic era cathedrals has been used by Islamic architecture since 600 AD-

  4. Patterns • Patterns were frequently used in Islamic design • They represent the infinity of Allah, with their nonending repeating Dome of the Rock Pat terns found on the insi de of the dome. Cool, lush blues and greens  represent their idea of paradise. >>>

  5. From the carpet we stand upon at home, to the Fritos bag you're eating sneakily under your desk right now, patterns have made themselves into our everyday lives.

Nowa' Days... • Even today, Islamic buildings use the same elements that mosques had 1,000 years ago. • Most notably, there is the Burj Khalifa, currently the tallest building in the world. • Use of arches and repeating designs such as the 3-lobed style that almost literally spirals into Heaven
