  4. Geography • Borders Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam • Has a coast on the Gulf of Thailand • The Mekong River flows through Cambodia

  5. Economy • Main economic activity is agriculture • Exports 6 billion dollars a year in clothing, timber, rubber, rice, fish, tobacco, footwear • Grew 10% per year from 2004-2008

  6. Currency of Cambodia • Cambodian Riel • 1 US dollar is equal to 4,036.02 riels • First issued in 1955

  7. Cambodian Clothing • Intricately patterned ikat silks • Similar to clothing of Laos and Thailand • Created by the Khmer and Cham ethnic group

  8. Government • Democracy under a constitutional Monarchy • Constitution established 40 years after independence • King and Prime Minister
