  2. Chronology of Anne’s Life • June 12, 1929- Anne is born to Otto and Edith Frank in Frankfurt am Main. • February 1934- Anne Frank moves to Amsterdam with her family. • June 12, 1942- Anne receives a diary for her thirteenth birthday. Frank family

Chronology of Anne’s Life • July 5, 1942- Anne’s sister Margot receives a notice ordering her to report for deportation to Westerbork camp. • July 6, 1942- The Frank family goes into hiding in the Secret Annex at Otto’s company building. Miep Gies worked for Otto and brought the families supplies while in the Annex. Miep Gies

  4. Chronology of Anne’s Life • July 13, 1942 The Van Pels (Daan) family join the Frank family in the Secret Annex. • November 16, 1942- Albert Dussel (Fritz Pfeffer) moves into the Secret Annex. • August 4, 1944- The families are discovered by the Nazis Adolf Hitler

Chronology of Anne’s Life • August 8, 1944- Families found in the Secret Annex are send to to the concentration camp at Westerbork. • September 3, 1944- Many prisoners are sent to a concentration camp at Auschwitz in Poland. Van Daan father dies. • October 1944- Anne and Margot were taken to Bergen-Belsen concentration camp.

  6. Chronology of Anne’s Life • January 6, 1945- Anne’s mom Edith Frank dies in Auschwitz. • January 27, 1945- Otto Frank is freed when Auschwitz is liberated by the Russian Army. • March 1945- Anne and Margot die in Bergen-Belsen.

  7. The Diary Summer 1947- Anne’s diary was published in Dutch. Anne was given a diary, something she always wanted, before she and her family went into hiding. She was a good writer and so she wrote stories and poems to tell about her life and ambitions and the lives of the people closest to her. The diary assumed a primary role in her life and became her true friend during her time in the secret annex. Because she was a teenager without a chance to talk, she used her diary to express her thoughts and feelings
