  2. “Don’t tread on me” Gadsden Flag – • Tea Party protest symbol. • Named after American GeneralChristopher Gadsden. • This symbol (coiled Rattlesnake) represents the time when there was controversy of a policy of Britain to send criminals to America & Benjamin Franklin suggested to thank the British by sending rattlesnakes to England.

  3. Platform • “The Tea Party believes in lowering taxes, cutting the deficit, setting the Constitution as the revered document at the center of government, giving the government back to “We the People” and promoting states’ rights.“

Platform • States’ rights – • - They want States’ rights for the issues that are convenient to their group. • - For example they want States’ rights, but they want abortion and gay marriage banned on a NATIONAL level. • Giving the government back to “We the People” – - Government governs with the consent of ThePeople. The government allows the people to have power.

  5. Platform • Abide by the Constitution – • - The constitution is above everything. • - Anything the government does revolves around the constitution and is based on the constitution. • - They want to repeal amendments 14, 16, and 17. • Lowering taxes – • - For corporations.
