Adjectives ending in –ing and -ed Study the difference: Boring = we say about something Ex. That movie is boring. The lecture is deadly boring. Bored = how smb. feels because something is boring Ex. Kate is bored because she has nothing to do. Note: there is a difference between: Kate is bored. (because she has nothing exciting to do) Kate is boring. (people do not like being with her because she has nothing exciting to say)
Grammar • the adjective ends in –ing when the person or thing is the cause of the final effect • the –ing describes what certain things or people are like • Ex. My job is interesting. • the adjective ends in –ed when the person or thing experiences the final effect • The –ed tells you how the person feels • Ex. He is such an interesting person. He knows everything!
