Grading Students will receive a daily grade for PE class based on the requirements shown in the grading rubric. 3 – Student has met the requirements of all three rubric criteria for today’s class. 2 – Student has met the requirements of two of the three rubric criteria for today’s class. 1 – Student has met the requirements of only one of the three rubric criteria for today’s class. 0 - Student has been removed from the class and receives zero points for today’s class. ***Marking Period Grade = Total points earned / Total days of class x3.
Grading • 3 – Student has met the requirements of all three rubric criteria for today’s class.
Grading • 2 – Student has met the requirements of two of the three rubric criteria for today’s class.
Grading • 1 – Student has met the requirements of only one of the three rubric criteria for today’s class.
Grading • 0 - Student has been removed from the class and receives zero points for today’s class.
Figuring Out Your Grade If you dressed for 30 days in the Marking period…30 Days x 3 (most points you can get for a day) = 90 points total for the Marking Period Ex…If you get a perfect 90 points then 90 / 90 = 100% Ex…If you were to get 72 points total then 72 / 90 = 80%
Unprepared • An unprepared = when a student does not change for class and does not have a valid excuse. 1st = -5, 2nd =-10, 3rd =-15, etc. • Students are allowed to attend PE makeup classes, which are posted after the mid-marking notices go out.
Medical Notes • In order to be excused from PE class, you must have a note signed by Nurse Renz. • Doctor’s notes should be given to Nurse Renz before you report to PE class. • Parent’s notes should be given to Nurse Renz before you report to PE class. • You are not medically excused from gym unless the nurse excuses you.
Gum • NO GUM, EVER… GUM
Dress Code • White, gray, maroon, or Verona t-shirts (should not have inappropriate content) • Black, gray, maroon, or Verona shorts (must have at least a 6 inch inseam) • Running, basketball or cross-training sneakers (Should have enough support for our running activities.)
Lockers • Each student is given a locker in the gym locker-rooms to be used for one school year. • Lockers should be locked up with a Master Lock! • The PE Dept. is not responsible for any lost items. • Students should not change lockers or locker sections without the consent of the teacher in charge.
Personal Items • Any jewelry worn by a student should be locked safely inside of his/her locker. All watches, bracelets, necklaces, hoop earrings, and rings should be removed before class and put into a safe place…otherwise, if it is something sentimental we would suggest not to wear it to PE class. • Perfume and body sprays are not allowed in the locker rooms due to students with certain allergies…also most perfumes come in glass bottles and glass is forbidden in the locker room due to the fact that students are sometimes in bare feet. • Spray deodorants are not allowed…please use roll-on or stick… PLEASE
Remember to… • Always lock your lock! • Tell your teacher if you change your lock. • Bring your clothes home AND wash them. • Keep extra “gym junk” in your lockers. • Wear socks to PE class. • NEVER throw anything in the locker-room!
